My decision to study Medical and Health Humanities was influenced by the ongoing
COVID-19 pandemic, which has raised a number of ethical concerns that affect communities
around the globe.

Throughout my journey in this program, I have been interested in bioethics and
health policy related to public health.
It is becoming increasingly apparent that bioethics
education is a crucial component of addressing pandemic issues by providing guidelines for
resource allocation, policy and legislation regarding politicized issues (e.g., masking), and
clinical decision-making processes that benefit both patients and medical practitioners.
It is therefore imperative that a bioethics education program covers these various topics.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been drawn to bioethics as it demonstrates its significance and relevance in addressing some urgent issues, including the allocation of resources, appropriate policies and legislation, the establishment of ethical guidelines for clinical and research decision-making, and systemic racism and health disparities.
