Stepping into a World of Community Care : A Personal Journey

Providing food service in my church community

Community care lies at the heart of a thriving society. It’s about people coming together, offering their skills, compassion, and determination to build a better world for all. I’m going to share about my journey as I step into a new role on the Board of Directors for two inspirational organizations, Motown Mission and Motor City Wesley.

As I share my excitement and aspirations, my hope is to inspire others to reflect on the powerful impact of community care, and the profound change we can all make when we come together for a common cause. This is a great opportunity for me to help improve the lives of people in and around Detroit, Michigan.

You might know that Motown Mission is a wonderful nonprofit organization that helps the young, college students, and adults in Detroit with economic recovery. This special group welcomes everyone to help make our community better. Whether it’s gardening projects, feeding programs, or rebuilding initiatives, everyone can help in changing our surroundings for the better.

Motor City Wesley, on the other hand, is a nonprofit organization of motivated students who want to make the world better. This group understands Detroit’s history and its challenges and is excited about the opportunities that the city has.

I’m really looking forward to this. I have a personal connection with these organizations because I was an intern at Motown Mission. Those days helped me grow and shaped who I am today. Being on the board feels like the next step in my journey to help my community.

Being a board member isn’t just a title to me; it’s a responsibility that I take seriously. I’m looking forward to learning more and doing my best in this role. I’m a little nervous, but mostly excited and happy about working with people for a good cause.

My love for the community drives me to do this. I’m inspired by the idea of helping others. If you ask me, ‘What inspires you?’ – I’d say it’s the life of Mother Theresa. Her words and actions have guided me and made me who I am today.

Mother Theresa

Just like Mother Theresa, I want to bring love and care to the communities around Detroit. I want to make a space where people can feel empathy and understanding – a place that helps dreams come true and makes everyone feel important.

In this journey of love and care for our community, I’m inviting all of you. This is not about one person, but about all of us working together. Let’s work together, share ideas, and use our strengths to make the world a better place.

In the end, this is about helping and caring for our community. As I start this new journey, I’m ready to make a difference and help others.

Like Mother Theresa once said, ‘Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.’ This is the spirit that I’m bringing to my new role. I’m hoping that I can contribute to a world that’s brighter, more caring, and connected.
