HEEDING THE DIVINE CALLING: MY JOURNEY OF FAITH AND LEADERSHIP
In July 2023, I embarked on a journey that would redefine my purpose and stretch the boundaries of my faith. As a girl from DR Congo with a background in Health Care Administration, I found myself stepping into a role far from the confines of my previous experiences. I answered a call to ministry, becoming a minister in a local church on the west side of Detroit. This decision was fueled by a desire to embrace practical leadership skills and engage more deeply with my community.
Transitioning into ministry was not a path I had envisioned for myself. Coming from a different cultural background and speaking languages other than English presented its own set of challenges. Yet, these very obstacles became the crucibles for empowerment and growth. In my journey, I’ve learned that perfection is not the goal; rather, it’s the commitment to serve and the willingness to follow where God leads that truly matters.
Reflecting on my experiences, I am reminded of Moses in the Bible. Like Moses, who felt incapable when called by God to lead the Israelites, I too have faced moments of doubt and inadequacy. But the story of Moses teaches us an invaluable lesson about divine calling. When God calls us to serve, He doesn’t leave us to navigate the journey alone. He promises His support and ensures we are never abandoned.
In the moments when I have felt overwhelmed by the pressures of leadership and the challenges of adapting to a new cultural context, I have seen the faithfulness of God manifest in my life. Night and day, through every trial and triumph, I have experienced the steadfast presence of God guiding and sustaining me.
This journey has been far from easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. It has taught me about the power of faith and the importance of trusting in God’s plan, even when the path seems uncertain. My story, like that of Moses, is a testament to the fact that when we heed the divine calling and commit ourselves to follow God’s lead, He equips us for the tasks ahead and walks with us every step of the way.
To anyone standing at the threshold of a divine calling, feeling unworthy or uncertain, I offer this encouragement: Trust in God’s promise to be with you. Embrace the journey with faith, knowing that you are never alone. The challenges and pressures will come, but so will the victories and joys. In heeding the divine calling, you embark on a path of profound transformation and purpose, illuminated by the unwavering support of God.
Praise be to God, who calls us into His service and sustains us with His unfailing love. My journey is a living testimony to the goodness of God, and it is a story I share with the hope that it may inspire others to answer their own divine calling with courage and faith.
